Free NBME Explanations

Every question from NBME 20, 21, 22 & 23, explained clearly. Download, study, share.

How to get the most out of them

An explanation helps most when you read it to answer one question: why is the right answer right, and why are the other choices wrong? Start with the questions you missed or flagged, write down the clue that decides each one, and come back to your notes a few days later.

Are these NBME explanations really free?
Yes. Read them online or download the PDFs. There is no sign-up and no payment.
Are these the official NBME explanations?
No. They are independent explanations made by CrackNBME. NBME is a registered trademark of the National Board of Medical Examiners, and CrackNBME is not affiliated with or endorsed by the NBME or the USMLE.
Which NBME forms and blocks are available?
NBME 20, 21, 22 & 23, each in 4 blocks. Every block has its own page and its own PDF.
How should I use the explanations?
Take the block first, then go through your wrong and flagged questions. For each one, work out why the right answer is right and why the others are wrong, then write down the one clue that decides it.

Reading explanations isn't the hard part.

Knowing which mistakes are costing you points is.
That's what we do in our CrackNBME Mentorship Program™.
